YES YOU CAN!

Many prospective couples will have been tearing their hair out with worry about the delay to their wedding plans in the current pandemic, and some have already postponed until next year.  However, a growing number are finding that registry offices and venues are now already booked solid for next year, and they are further off than ever from getting married.  This must feel like the most depressing situation imaginable!  But, do not despair!  Things are beginning to open up in a different way, and the latest news is more optimistic.  Now that we know it is possible to gather together with thirty of your nearest and dearest, you may want to have a complete rethink of your plans, and get on with your wedding ceremony as soon as possible, rather than delaying indefinitely, in the hope that all will be back to normal by next year, but with no certainty that anything will be any different.

There is a way round the various obstacles in your path, and that is to take things into your own hands.  Go ahead and put in your application for a simple registration of your marriage at the registry office – this can happen mid-week throughout the year, and with just two witnesses – and even it if is some way off, you will have the date firmly in your diary.  But it does not have to coincide with the day of your wedding ceremony; it will happen eventually, and should not be the reason to hold everything up!  Obviously you need to have your marriage legalised, but, if registry offices and churches are now overwhelmed with the backlog of postponed weddings well into next year - creating a further delay, why not just have your wedding ceremony now in your garden or a romantic place of your choice, where you may exchange your personal vows and rings in front of your immediate circle of family and friends, and sign the papers later, when the registry office finds a space for you?  Or, if you have been lucky enough to have secured a registry office booking already, then you can go ahead with an individual ceremony with dear ones later that day conducted by an independent celebrant, and get it all done at once after all!

Choosing to have a small, independent wedding ceremony puts you back in charge again, and able to move forward, and at the end of the day, isn’t that the most important thing?  Because it means that you can move on to the next exciting phase of your life now, rather than later!   And who knows, it could actually be the most beautiful, romantic wedding you could ever have dreamed of!  Call me, to discuss how I can help you make this happen!
